Brain Hacking Diversity
Fostering a culture of inclusivity, self-awareness and empathy
Talk to Feel GoodPolitics, it divides and unites us. It also shows us how our unconscious biases or “mind bugs” form our opinions. As much as we would like to think that we are open-minded and rational, the simple truth is that no one is entirely immune to the mind bugs that creep into our thoughts. These bugs plant preconceived notions that influence the way we think and interact. We can create more diverse, connected workplaces by bringing these into conscious awareness and developing methods to regulate them.
Creating an inclusive working culture free of implicit bias will allow you to feel more comfortable collaborating with people of different backgrounds. You will be empowered to harness the learning potential presented by diverse individuals, allowing for faster problem-solving, decision-making and innovation in teams. — Harvard Business Review, 2017.
In the workplace, biases can arise just about anywhere, from performance reviews, promotions, team working and working with clients. They can be a significant barrier to cultivating diverse talent and leveraging unique perspectives. From a personal standpoint, biases can affect business objectives and unconsciously influence our interactions with co-workers, potentially fostering negativity, conflict, or a lack of connectedness. Diversity thrives when awareness increases.
In our session, we will provide you with tools to recognise unconscious biases and prevent them from negatively influencing your perception of others. Doing so will create an opportunity for more meaningful social interactions and a more connected, inclusive work environment. Tame your mind bugs and hack your way to diversity.
