Ozempic Injection

Ozempic is a prescription medication used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to a class of drugs called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, which work by mimicking the effects of a naturally occurring hormone called GLP-1.

Ozempic is typically administered once a week as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. It helps to lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreas and reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver. It also slows down the rate at which food is digested and absorbed, which helps to control blood sugar after meals.

In addition to improving blood sugar control, Ozempic may also lead to weight loss and a reduction in blood pressure. Common side effects of Ozempic include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, although these typically improve over time. Rare but serious side effects may include pancreatitis, kidney problems, and thyroid cancer.
